Unlike many other countries where a notable percentage of the population have Rhesus negative blood types, only 0.03% of the Thai population have one of these blood types. This leaves all non-Thais who require Rhesus negative blood transfusions exposed. The Central Blood Register relies on individuals registering with them (directly or via their respective embassies) and when the need is there, a delay in obtaining a blood supply is minimised and lives are saved.
