Kiwalas is a playgroup for ANZWG members (or their partners) with young children.
It's an informal playgroup where parents chat over morning tea and the kids play with one another and with the host's toys. The playgroup is hosted in members' homes every Tuesday morning from 9.30 - 11.30am. It's mostly mums that attend, but dads are always made very welcome.
Kiwalas is a great help to new arrivals in Bangkok. Most importantly, it provides a launching pad for friendships and a ready made network of people who have children of similar ages to socialise with. In addition, members are a great source of information about how to find things and what to do in Bangkok with children which is invaluable as you find your feet in this city. Members have the opportunity to ask questions in person every week at playgroup or they can email the group for more urgent matters or between play groups. Kiwalas’ members who no longer attend playgroup because their children are older can stay in touch by remaining a member of the email group for occasional social get-togethers.
Kiwalas’ co-ordinators organise a rotating schedule every three months and members choose dates that suit them to host. The host supplies a basic morning tea suitable for parents and children. Most children that attend playgroup are 0-3 years old, although older children are always welcome.
